Verizon Kosher Phones

Kosher phones on Verizon's network through Selectel, from $15 a month.

Verizon is the network most of our customers end up on, and Selectel is how they get there. Selectel Wireless runs on Verizon's towers, costs $15 a month, and is the option marked most popular at our checkout for good reason.
Almost every phone in this collection can be activated on it, from the $129 TCL Flip to the $400 Wonderphone, and we submit the port and test the line before you leave. The one exception is the Fig Core Ani Choma, which runs on its own Verizon-based Ani Choma service. Verizon Prepaid is also available on selected handsets.

Why Verizon for a Kosher Phone

Two reasons, and neither is loyalty. The first is coverage: Verizon's network reaches further into the places kosher phone buyers actually go, from the Catskills in the summer to job sites well outside a metro area, and a basic phone with one bar is a worse phone than a cheap phone.

The second is hardware. Several of the best basic flip phones ever made were Verizon devices, including the Kyocera DuraXV line, the Kyocera Cadence and the LG Classic. Those handsets are built around Verizon's bands and they belong on Verizon's network. Putting them elsewhere is possible on paper and disappointing in practice.

Selectel and Verizon Prepaid Plans

·        Selectel Verizon, $15 a month: Our most popular plan. Runs on Verizon's network, bundles with the device at checkout, and is offered on every handset here except the Fig Core Ani Choma.

·        Yearly service: Available at a better effective rate. The LG Classic listing quotes $120 for the year on Selectel.

·        Verizon Prepaid: Offered on the Wonderphone and the Kyocera DuraXV Extreme+ E4811 as a checkout option.

·        Summer only plans: Ask us about seasonal service for camp and travel months, so you are not paying for idle lines.

·        Number porting: TracFone, Page Plus and Selectel numbers can all be ported. See all kosher phone plans.

Verizon Compatible Models

Every phone on this page runs on Verizon's network, and all but one offer a Selectel Verizon option at checkout. The Fig Core Ani Choma has no plan selector because Ani Choma service in the United States runs on its own Verizon-based plan, so call us to set that one up. A few of the rest are Verizon-first devices worth calling out:

·        LG Classic Kosher, $200: Brand new stock that runs on Verizon towers through Selectel, Page Plus or TracFone. Talk only or talk and text.

·        Kyocera DuraXV E4610, $220, and Cadence S2720, $300: Verizon devices with Verizon Message+ support. These two are offered with Selectel only, not AT&T or T-Mobile.

·        Kyocera DuraXV Extreme E4810 and Extreme+ E4811, $189: Rugged Verizon flips, with the E4811 also offering Verizon Prepaid.

·        TCL Flip Kosher T408DL, $129: Unlocked worldwide and our most popular budget handset on Selectel.

·        Fig, Qin, Fusion, Bliss and Wonderphone: All sold unlocked with a Selectel Verizon option at checkout.

Porting Your Number to Verizon

1.      Do not cancel your old line first. Cancelling before the port kills the number.

2.      Collect four things from your current carrier: the account number, the PIN or password, the billing address on file, and the account holder's name exactly as written.

3.      Give them to us with the new phone order.

4.      We submit the port. It usually completes the same business day, though the national porting center operates weekday business hours only, so a Friday afternoon request may land Monday.

5.      We test a call and, where the level includes it, a text, before the phone goes home with you.

Coverage, VoLTE and Older Flip Phones

Verizon shut down its 3G CDMA network at the end of 2022. Any flip phone that relied on CDMA voice stopped working then, which is why so many people replaced a perfectly good phone that year.

Everything we sell is a 4G LTE handset that we activate and test on a current network before it leaves us. If you are carrying an older kosher flip that has started dropping calls or showing no service in places it used to work, bring it in. Sometimes it is the phone and sometimes it is the SIM, and we would rather check than sell you something you do not need.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Selectel and how is it related to Verizon?

Selectel Wireless is a carrier that runs on Verizon's network. You get Verizon coverage at $15 a month, which is why it is the most popular option at our checkout.

Can I keep my Verizon number?

Yes. We port existing numbers, including TracFone, Page Plus and Selectel numbers. Bring your account number, PIN or password, billing address and account holder name, and do not cancel the old line first.

Which kosher phones are Verizon only?

The Kyocera DuraXV E4610 and the Kyocera Cadence S2720 are offered with Selectel Verizon only. The LG Classic runs on Verizon towers through Selectel, Page Plus or TracFone.

Will my old Verizon flip phone still work?

Only if it supports 4G LTE with HD Voice. Verizon closed its 3G CDMA network at the end of 2022 and older CDMA-only flips stopped working then. Bring it in and we will check.

How much is Verizon kosher phone service?

Selectel Verizon is $15 a month with us, and yearly service is available at a better effective rate. Verizon Prepaid is offered on selected handsets.

Can I get summer only service on Verizon?

Ask us. Seasonal service is popular for camp and travel months so you are not paying for the line the rest of the year, and we will tell you what is available for your dates and current pricing.

Do I need to unlock my phone to use Selectel?

The phones we sell are supplied unlocked or already matched to the network. If you are bringing your own device, call us with the model and we will tell you before you buy service.

How long does porting take?

Usually the same business day. The national porting center operates weekday business hours only, so requests made late on a Friday can carry into Monday.
